Final Fantasy XIII is the latest numbered iteration of the Final Fantasy series. It was released in Japan on December 17th, 2009, and will be released in the US and Europe on March 9th, 2010. The game is set in the world of Pulse, which contains both a natural, wild environment, and a high tech city called Cocoon above. The main progtagonist, Lightning, must defeat an oppressive government which seeks to persecute any who leave humanity's floating city and visit Pulse below, to complete her "Focus," a task given to her by the fal'Cie, godlike robotic entities which inhabit Pulse.
